Why sleep ins are important
Sleep ins have become a ritual for me on a Sunday morning. My daughter and my husband have their Daddy/Daughter time and I have a glorious sleep.
I find this is important for several reasons:
1. Recharge – I get the time to reset and make sure that any sleep that I previously missed is now caught up on. Losing sleep can happen everyday when you have children. Whether they are 5 weeks, 5 months 5 or 15 they do have a way of making mornings begin way too early. My body feels more relaxed and all the stress of the week fades away. It's an awesome feeling.
2. Ideas time – My brain gets the chance to really have a think about what is happening and what I need. I drift and my imagination runs wild. It is usually at this time that I get the best ideas for what I want to do. This is my 'dreaming' time. It's when I decide what I want to do next with my life. During this time I decided I wanted to become an educator, blogger, mother and also decided what I wanted for breakfast. Haha.
3. Alone time – We all need alone time. Time to just be by myself and not have to worry about the world around me. However, I do tend to check my News alerts to see what is happening and I then have some time to think about what this means to me.
My suggestion is to pick a day. Any day that you can do it and just sleep in. Even if you are not sleeping – you can just lay there and relax.
We all need that time to disconnect and take a moment to think about where we are and what we want.
Take the time for yourself – self care. You deserve it.
