The Essential Guide to Calendars
These days calendars have become an essential part of our lives. We have it there to help with remembering birthdays, anniversaries, appointments, meetings and so much more.
Why do we need calendars? Which calendar do you choose?
It is a business tool that is integral to its operations as it keeps you on track and organised.
These days there are hundreds of apps, online programs and paper diaries to choose from. They can make your diary accessible from anywhere. All the information you need is at your fingertips. But what kind do you choose?
They all offer different features and online versions can include social and event management features as well as being highly customisable and easy to read.
There are four main types of calendars:
- App – You can download so many types of apps including Google Calendar, Gmail Calendar, Planner Pro or even on IPhone they have the Calendar app that is already on your phone. They all have easy to use features. You can change whether you want to view monthly, weekly or daily overviews. Some versions you can email your appointments for easy upload, integrate with social media and many more depending on the app chosen.
- Online Calendar – These are a great way to organise your life. Not only do they allow you to keep track of events and special dates, they also let you set reminders, send invitations and organise events with others. Some have address books and the ability to share documents. You can use them on your phone, laptop or any other portable electronic.
- Paper diaries – These can take a thousand different colours, shapes and sizes. You can buy them so they are a day to page, week to a page or month to a page. You have to write everything into it but when there is no access to the internet or your phone runs out of charge it will still be able to present all your appointments, birthdays etc (as long as you write them in there to begin with)
They all have their pros and cons and it comes down to personal choice.
My choice is an actual written diary. I carry it around everywhere and while I know everything is moving towards using technology I just can’t give up my diary. It holds my day planner, my to do list and my contacts as well as my brain dump pages and any notes that come to mind.
But why do we need them really? When you are organised you know what is coming and so you are less stressed!
